Policy
Hi!
We're sew excited that you're interested in joining one of our Studio offerings! Our studio was born from the love of sewing and the desire to share this wonderful skill and art form with others. This love is the threads of our business and you'll feel and see that in every class you take and the instructors you have. We hope you'll find our studio to be inspirational and a safe place for creativity, expression and for you to be you!
Overview:
- Our Adult Classes are for ages 16 and over.
- Creative Arts Workshops max at thirteen students and Sewing Classes max at eight.
- The studio opens about 10 minutes before your scheduled start time.
- To cultivate creativity, foster group learning and interaction we are a "device free" studio.
- When signing up for a course session you are committing to all the classes in that session. Please make all efforts to attend each class. This allows for the course to run more smoothly for everyone.
- We provide a creative and educational learning experience that is nurturing, fun and friendly. We encourage creativity, exploration, group learning and support of peers.
- Once registered for a course students will receive an informational email about a week before their start date that needs reviewing and a response back within 24 hours. If you don't receive the email please check your spam folder. It is the students responsibility to open and read their e-mail from the studio. It is not the studio's responsibility if you did not see or review the email.
Prerequisites:
- It is the student's responsibility to fully read the class description for the course they are interested in and know what they are signing up for.
- Either at the bottom of each course description or top of the page it lists if a prerequisite is needed for that course. Most classes have prerequisites or ask students to have equivalent experience before enrolling. This enables students to gain a solid foundation in skill appropriate courses.
- It is the student's responsibility to make sure they meet all prerequisites. For those not sure what class to join, please email us at creativesewingstudio@gmail.com and we will help to place you in the right course.
- We offer two options for those who register for a course that they don't meet the prerequisites. You can be issued a full credit that must be used within six months or be reimbursed in the manner you paid minus a 10% processing/cancellation fee.
~ Sewing Machines: Students are welcome to rent studio machines for a one time fee of $10 during our Sewing 100 and Sewing 101 Courses. With "at home work" being a part of many of our intermediate and higher level courses students joining us for any course beyond the two mentioned above will want to have their own machines that they are comfortable threading, making bobbins and sewing on.
Payment:
- Online: We accept all major credit cards for online.
- In Studio: We accept cash or check for purchases and registrations made in the studio.
- Material fee is brought to the first class and paid to the instructor.
- Payment is due at the time of registration and will reserve your space in the course. Please register early to ensure a seat as classes fill quickly
Refunds, Credits, Missed Classes:
- Withdrawal or class transfers made for any reason 15 or more days prior to the start day of your Course will result in a studio credit, minus a 10% cancellation fee that can be used toward another offering within six months of being issued. Credits expire after six months, cannot be combined with promotional discounts, are non-refundable, cannot be redeemed for cash value or for Gift Certificates. Credits are non-assignable without prior approval from the studio. - We apologize but Art Workshops are non-refundable for any reason once registration is made.
- No reimbursement, credit or class transfer will be issued for withdrawals made within 14 days of the class start date.
- If a promo or discount is won/given and applied toward a course/workshop it is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed toward other offerings if a student cancels/transfers out of course/workshop.
- Payment is non-refundable, creditable or transferable for classes students miss.
- We cover a lot in our multi-week sewing sessions and each class builds upon the previous class. Because so much is covered, it is important to make all efforts to attend each class in your session and complete 'at home' work if required. If a class is missed or if 'at home work' is needed and not completed there is no guarantee you will finish the class project.
- Please let us know if you will be missing a class, in rare cases we may be able to accommodate a class make-up. Class make-ups are not guaranteed and are only sometimes an option.
Class Cancellations / Inclement Weather/ Bump Back:
Sometimes in rare circumstances due to weather, sickness, etc. course schedules may change. In cases like these an email will be sent out as late as the day of the class. It is the student's responsibility to read the email on class date adjustments. Please see below for details.
- If a course needs to be bumped up or back the studio reserves the right to do so. If a course needs to be adjusted by more than one week and the adjustment no longer works for students' schedule they can choose to be reimbursed via original payment, use the credit toward another offering or hold a credit that is redeemable for six months after issue.
- In rare cases a class during a course session may need to be cancelled and this will extend the length of the original course date by one week. Each course is allotted a make-up date that will cause the course to extend the length of the original course dates by one week. It is the student's responsibility when registering to make sure that they can attend the make-up date if needed. The Studio is not responsible if a student cannot attend the make-up date. No credit or reimbursement will be issued for missed make-up dates.
- If a course/workshop needs to be bumped back, students will be contacted and asked if they can attend the new dates. At time of student's confirmation to attend date changes, all registration/cancelation policies apply.
- Living in New England it is especially important to recognize that between Nov. 1st and April 1st there is a strong possibility we could have a class weather cancellation. If a class is cancelled due to weather you will be issued a credit of amount paid that can be used within six months of issue date toward another course or workshop.
- If for any reason, other than weather, The Creative Sewing Studio needs to cancel a course and payment has already been submitted students can choose to be reimbursed via original payment, use the credit toward another offering or hold a credit that is redeemable for six months after issue.
Promotions/Gift Certificates:
- Sometimes we offer discount promotions through our website or facebook page.
- Discounts may not be combined, cannot be redeemed for cash value, are non-transferable, non-assignable and are void when expired.
- We do not honor registrations or discounts through third parties. Only registrations/promos/discounts given directly through The Creative Sewing Studio are valid.
- We do not have the ability to keep Gift Certificates on file. Use the code on your Gift Certificate to redeem the dollar amount at check out. Gift Certificates are non-refundable.
Safety / Risks / Behavior:
- The safety of our students is of utmost importance at The Creative Sewing Studio. Please do not attend any classes if you are under the influence of any substances or not feeling well.
- By enrolling in and attending our classes you understand that in most classes we work with machinery, sharp items like scissors and pins as well as hot items like irons. It is expected that all students respect and use all items in a cautious and safe manner. Use of these items may put students in danger. When enrolling in our classes you understand that there is a potential danger to using any of these supplies and tools. The Creative Sewing Studio is not responsible for any injury or accident that occurs while using tools and equipment during classes.
- We foster a creative, supportive, nurturing and friendly environment. We offer patience and respect and expect that in return. Poor behavior toward instructors and other students is unacceptable.
- Disruptive, rude or endangering behavior is not acceptable and instructors reserve the right to pull students from class. If a student is dismissed based on disruptive or endangering behavior a credit will not be issued.
Left Behind Projects or Items:
If projects/items are left at the studio for more than one month we will assume they are no longer wanted. After one month they will be donated or repurposed. The studio is not responsible for left behind items.

* Please no food or beverages, except water, are allowed in the studio sewing room.
* Please be respectful of others and do not use your phone during the lessons. If there is an emergency please feel free to step outside the workroom to use the phone.
* Because of limited space and to prevent accidents personal belongings are not allowed in the Studio Workroom. Jackets, purses, scarves, etc. can be kept in one of the rooms adjacent to the Workroom or items can be left in your vehicle. We are not responsible for lost or stolen property.
* Please Note:
Our Standard Studio Policies, which we've had in place for several years, apply to all registrations. We understand that these are particularly difficult times, due to COVD, but unfortunately we cannot make exceptions to our policies to accommodate everyone's individual needs. Our policies apply to all COVID and Non-COVID related matters. However, if you can not attend a class please email the studio to let us know well in advance of your start, as in rare circumstances we may be able to work with you, but there is no guarantee.

COVID CREDITS: If you were enrolled in an offering and your class was discontinued or canceled due to the mandatory COVID shut down, you were issued a credit in 2020. You would have received an email at that time with a credit code good for one year, as well as additional reminder and informational emails. Please note, credits contain no-cash value, are non-refundable and expire within one year. Under no circumstances can we hold your credit longer than a year, nor reimburse you.
